My Bargainous Bargains from Cath Kidston

So we popped in Cath Kidston last week to pick up some birthday gifts for a friend and while we were in there we spotted that they had a sale on! Not one to miss a kawaii bargain I spotted this super cute spotty water bottle AND across the shop in the kids section, an (almost) matching bag!

I don't think they are meant to be a matching set but they look like it don't they! I do like Cath Kidston, I know she's more famous for her floral prints and items but I've always been a fan of starry/spotty items, which started with a pink Cath Kidston phone many, many moons ago!

Both items were in the sale, the bottle was £12 down to £8 and the bag was £16 down to £12. I know the bag say Cath Kidston Kids on the front label but hey, who cares! :)

Goodbye Swimmer and Chocoholic - LITKL will miss you.

One of the hugely iconic brands of Harajuku, SWIMMER, announced last month that they will be closing all of their stores in January 2018, and their website will be closing in December 2017. We at LITKL are extremely sad to hear this as we loved shopping at their stores in LaForet and Harajuku ALTA.

Seeing how sad I was at the news Mr went on a sneaky hunt and tracked me down a box full of SWIMMER and Chocoholic goodies before they all disappeared forever! He managed to find a seller from Japan selling a mixed box of items and they arrived this week.

The first items out of the box was stationery! If you read regularly you will know how much I love stationery! Here is a super cute pencil bag, eraser, pen and journal:

The pen is super old school and has the different colours that you take out of the top and insert through the bottom to reach the colour you want! <3  The next item out of the box was this Kawaii lunch box:

This is from the sister brand to SWIMMER, Chocoholic, which was the store located in Harajuku Alta, and will come in handy for my lunch! The next item was this larger journal with a zippered cover:

You can see the back page has the zipper which will help keep all my notes together! Even the back is super cute:

One of the best things about SWIMMER is the range of items they offer, including this cute DS case:

It's covered in teddy bears, just like the one on the bag charm next to it. They also do items likes this Kawaii necklace and nail seals:

This necklace is so cute, it even has an SW on the roof of the cute house! The next item is one of my favourites! It's a teeny clock:

It's Alice in Wonderland themed and you can see the white rabbit on the clock face. It's so small it fits into the palm of my hand.  The last item is this adorable photo album:

Inside you can display printed photos and the album itself comes with a disc on which you can save the photos you have printed off.

So that's my last ever SWIMMER haul.

I'm so sad to see a brand like this disappear, especially after 30 years. It's such a diverse store and caters for so many fashions and tastes, and items are always reasonably priced. You can see just from what I got in this post the range of tastes that are covered, there was always something for everyone. I'm just happy we got to enjoy shopping there and their staff were always so nice and friendly. I'm glad we supported it while we could. If you are a SWIMMER fan, grab your items while you still can and not because you might be able to get them cheap but to show them that even with them closing down, they'll always have fans!

Mr's Primark Pick-ups

It's always worth checking out Primark for good value clothes and accessories - and they have an ever-changing range of licensed goods for brands and characters including Disney, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, Star Wars and Nintendo!

Recently I picked up a couple of Ts to add to my wardrobe for summer.  First up was this Sesame Street character T:

And yes, it's a Stranger Things reference - so I just had to get it! I especially like Cookie Monster!

I also picked up this all-over print Pokémon T:

I like that it includes Meowth and Togepi, which don't get enough merchandise these days!

Clinique Haul

Mr and I have begun a new exercise and diet regime which has lead me to look into changing my skin care regime too. As we are exercising more I have been looking for something to help rehydrate my face so at the beginning of June we popped into Clinique (at the recommendation of my friend) to see what they had on offer, and it looked like it was awesome timing because I came out with this haul!

What's in the bag I hear you say, well stick around and I will tell you! First here is what I picked up to assist in rehydrating my skin:

Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate (catchy name right?!) is supposed to instantly quench dehydrated skin. As I bought it at the beginning of June I have had a good month to try it and I have to say I love it! Due to the amount of exercise we were doing I had begun to get dry skin and this has banished it completely, leaving my skin more hydrated than ever. You only need a small squirt for each application as a little goes a long way and it gets absorbed really easily leaving my skin hydrated, smooth and super healthy looking. It doesn't leave any residue, stickiness or feel heavy on your skin and can be used twice a day, morning and evening, after your normal skin care regime, and you can also apply it during the day on hot days if you feel you need a topup. I will definitely be keeping this gem in my skincare regime from now onwards!

I also picked up this lovely moisturizing lip colour balm or Chubby Stick:

This is my 4th Chubby Stick and I love them! I find some lip sticks really dry out your lips but these really do moisturise and plump them up! They glide on so well and stay put for a good few cups of tea! They now do a Chubby Plump and Shine lip gloss which I may have to try in the future. I'm not a huge fan of gloss but going on how much I love the normal Chubby Sticks I'm willing to give one a try!

Now, what was in the bag! When I shopped in Clinique they had a offer of buy two products and get this goodie bag free, so, having picked my two items, I claimed my gift - and here is what came in it:

The bag came with 6 goodies to try! 4 face care products and 2 cosmetics, all in handbag handy sizes too! The face care products are:

Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser (pink tube)
Pep-Start Eye Cream (orange tube)
Dramaically Different Mositurising Lotion+ (yellow tube)
Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (pink pot)

The cosmetics products are:

High Impact Mascra - Black
Long Last Lipstick in Watermelon

As I said at the start, very catchy names! Pep-Start 2-in-1 is a product I use in my normal skin care regime so this handy sized tube will be taken on holiday with me! The Pep-Start Eye Cream is also a handy little tube and you only need a small amount to see a difference on your eyes. It really does wake them up leaving you looking freah, alert and puff-free. It doesn't leave any residue once it has been absorbed and can be used as a base under your eye makeup! Not everything in the set is something I would use, and I have given some of it away to one of my sisters, but if you are looking to try Clinique products without spending a fortune, picking up an item or two to get your hands on a set like this is well worth it.

Aura by Mugler

Being a huge Mugler fragrance fan I have been looking forward to their new perfume - Aura, and today, despite it not being officially launched till tomorrow, I managed to get my hands on it!

I popped into Debenhams to see if they had it available but they were still in the process of working out how they were going to display it, so we went to Selfridges and although they didn't have it on display yet, they were more than happy for me to be their first Aura customer! They even gave me a mini handbag sized version as a bonus! So thank you to the lovely Mugler lady in Selfridges!

I love collecting perfumes and Mugler always have the most beautiful bottles, and Aura does not disappoint:

The new bottle for Aura was designed by Thierry Mugler himself and features an emerald green heart topped with a metal 'M', the design is also mirrored for the small bottle which is just adorable!

The perfume contains scents of Rhubarb leaf, Tiger Liana, Bourbon Vanilla, Orange Blossom and Wolfwood, and smells divine. Having had a spritz of it on since this morning, it has stayed put all day, which is what I would expect for a Mugler fragrance. The smell has evolved since I applied it this morning. When first applied you get that intense hit which you associate with a Mugler fragrance, then, as it settles down you can start to pick out the different parts, I absolutely love the soft fruit notes with the vanilla coming through at the end.

Again, Mugler has created a beautiful new perfume that stands out from the rest of their range and holds it own. Aura comes in a range of sizes, and as I'm a collector I bought the 90ml bottle as it was the refillable version. If you want to get your hands on this beautiful perfume, it hits the shops tomorrow!

Hello Beasties ^^

Back in January 2016 Mr posted about a super kawaii artist named TJ Lubrano and some super cute watercolour paintings that he had bought from her to kawaii up our home. Well TJ Lubrano continues to create beautiful pieces of art and I was lucky enough to receive one from Mr as a present:

I am a huge fan of Maleficent so when Mr saw this he said he had to get it for me! <3 This is a beautiful original watercolour painting of Maleficent with Hello Beastie, a phrase she uses towards Aurora in the movie, above her. This has to be one of my favourite pieces of art to date and is so delicately done. You can still get your hand on a print of this painting from TJ Lubrano's store which has recently been relaunched on etsy.

Mr also treated me to some Maleficent pieces at Christmas:

Mr got me this super cute Maleficent tote bag and pass holder from Japan and a Maleficent Lego minifigure ^^. I always find it really hard to find Disney Villain merchandise and even harder to get my hands on Maleficent merch so I was super happy Mr found me these!

We are big fans of Disney Villains, especially since we visited Disney Sea when it was all decorated for a Villain Halloween! Gaston is Mr's favourite Disney Villain, hopefully more merch for the Villains will get released the more popular they get!

My Topshop Treasures

As my obsession with all things iridescent grows, I have found certain shops to be the best places to check out, like Topshop! I don’t normally shop in Topshop but popped in a few months ago to check out their accessories and BINGO! Iridescent items galore! This weekend we popped in and I wasn’t disappointed!

I bought an iridescent purse in Topshop a few months ago, so didn’t need a new one, but this one was covered in iridescent scales, just like a mermaid! My two favourite things at the moment, iridescent and mermaid all wrapped into one!

I managed to take a good picture that shows you how it shimmers with the scales, and even this doesn’t do it justice. The purse is Skinny Dip London, who specialise in young, upcoming British designers, so it’s awesome to support them with my purchase as well.

Sticking with Skinny Dip London, I found this next item hiding on a lower shelf all on its own:

Isn’t this a gorgeous bag <3 It’s see through and a good size to store all sorts of goodies, which is why I bought it. I can store lots of my accessories in it but know what’s in what without opening it, saving me time every morning when I’m getting ready!

Next - socks!

We have had some beautiful weather here in the UK the last few weeks, so I have been considering breaking out my ¾ length work trousers early. I love the ankle sock look so when I spotted these I knew it was time to give it a go. The first pair are black with metallic rainbow threads running all through them, these will go with all of my brightly coloured work tops. The next pair are black with silver metallic threads running through them, so my monochrome days are covered with these.

The last pair were just for fun, aqua green with silver metallic threads running through them. These I might try and rock on a non-working day with my trusty culottes ❤  they will look super cute with some pumps, a pastel top and a kawaii bag.

So that’s everything I discovered in Topshop this month. What I would like to know, is do you have a secret honey hole where you go to find treasures? It would be awesome to know! If you do leave a comment below ^^

Johnny Cupcakes NES

Regular readers will probably know I'm a big Johnny Cupcakes fan - so I was really happy to pick up this NES inspired design T:

It's got a Nintendo-style Johnny Cupcakes logo and a cupcake bakery box styled like a NES controller - I love how the D-pad is the classic cupcake and crossbones!

On the back there's a design inspired by the famous Nintendo Seal of Quality:

I love this shirt - the NES homage is just too awesome!

Happy Easter, LINE style!

We love the different themes that you can get to personalise your LINE app - and to celebrate Easter in the most Kawaii way possible, they've released a special Bunny Tsum Tsum theme!

The design features popular characters from the Sensational Six, Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale - all dressed as pastel shade bunnies! The background for this theme has lots of colourful pastel Easter eggs - and some of them have a Tsum peeking round!

It's a really cute pastel theme - perfect for Easter!

Chikuwa Soudatsu Sen - Game Review

At LITKL HQ we try to fit in game nights twice a week, and recently we have had a few runs through of a Japanese microgame I picked up from Yellow Submarine in Akihabara - Chikuwa Soudatsu Sen, published by Hitojarashi.

In this game players are cats, trying to get the best share of Chikuwa for dinner!  But be careful, if you are too greedy you get a stomach ache and lose...

There are only four types of card, numbered 0 to 3.

Each player is dealt three cards from the deck and three more are placed face down in the centre of the table.  The first player is the person who most recently ate Chikuwa... we changed this so that it was the person who most recently ate fish! ^^  On your turn you may swap one or two cards from your hand with cards from the centre of the table - but you can't see what they will be until you've already swapped! Play continues until all players have had a turn.  You then shuffle the table centre cards back into the deck, deal three face down in the centre again and take another turn around the players in the opposite direction.

After everyone has had a go the second time, it's time to reveal hands...

It was a close game - I won with 3, 3, 2 - but Pinkuiro Pixie had 3, 3, 1; so close! If you have three 3 cards when players reveal hands you have a stomach ache so will lose (even 0, 0, 1 beats it!). While 3, 3, 2 is a strong hand, it can be beaten by three 0 cards - if a player has that hand then the owner is angry at the other cats taking all the food meaning that player wins!  The game includes a chart telling you the winning order of hands, so it's easy to work out.

There are also alternate rules, including a variant for 2 or three players at the Hitojarashi website.

It plays really quickly, so we're going to get some suitably themed tokens (maybe fish or cat beads or decoden embellishments?) and play the first to four winning hands ^^

Chikuwa Soudatsu Sen is a great filler game - it's really simple to play and doesn't take long to play a few hands.  It's designed for 2-4 players and for ages 5+, so you can get little Kawaiisters involved too!

If you see a copy available I recommend picking it up - the artwork is super cute and the game is good for people not used to games like this too.

Marvel x New Era new drops

Whenever we are in Birmingham we swing by the New Era Flagship to see what new drops there are - this time they had a new range of Marvel caps inspired by the comics.  Pinkuiro Pixie treated me to a couple (I'm a lucky Mr!) ^^

My favourite part of the second season of Daredevil was, without doubt the Punisher. So I had to grab this classic style cap with the (in)famous skull icon:

On the back of the cap there's a small Punisher logo as an extra little touch:

I also chose this Mighty Thor cap - this time it features the classic style logo on the front:

And on the back an embroided Mjolnir!

Both caps feature plain grey underbills, making them really versatile additions to my New Era collection - they'll go well with all sorts of outfits.

R2-D2 has arrived!

We're always looking for ways to make our home more kawaii and when we saw that Sky did special character remotes we knew straight away which one we wanted! And he's arrived!

R2-D2 is now a member of our household! ^^ I know this is just a remote control but it's touches like this that make your home feel more your own and make you smile! This remote was originally £25 but when we were walking through a mall we spotted a Sky stall offering them at half price! £12.50 to kawaiify our home, yes thank you!

Kawaii Highstreet Haul

Yesterday we had a shopping trip in Birmingham City Centre and as we were in so early we popped into Primark. We don't normally go in as it gets far too busy for me so we took advantage of it being so quiet so early! I know they do some cute printed tops if you can get your hands on them and yesterday I scored some super cute gamer tops! But first I will start with some cute basic tops Mr picked out for me.

First up are these two printed basic T's at just £2.50 each:

Above is a cute grey cap sleeve top with roughly drawn red hearts all over it and below is a white cap sleeve top with heart gems all over it:

These tops are adorable and are perfect for just hanging around the house but keeping it kawaii!
Next up is this super cute all over Beauty and the Beast print top:

The print is black and white and features the cartoon version of Beast, Chip, Cogsworth and Lumiere! Isn't it adorable! This was a steal at just £8! Next up are two super cute gamer tops that I just had to pick up!

This is a black cap sleeve top with a sequined motif on the front. As you can see the motif is of a Super Mushroom, but, when you rub the sequins up it reveals:

Look whats hiding under the Super Mushroom!

It's a 1-Up Mushroom! As you may have spotted from the sticker this is a two way sequin top!I have never seen this before, maybe you guys have but I just had to get this when we spotted it! And this wasn't the only one they had!

This is a grey cap sleeve two way sequin top featuring Princess Peach:

And underneath......

It's me! Mario!

These are super cute tops and were only £8 each! There weren't many left in the Birmingham City Centre store so if you want to get your hands on one get them before they're gone!

Next I picked up these two wash bags, well they're sold as wash bags but you could use these as normal bags! This is the first of my two Angelica from the Rugrats bags!

Above is the front side and below is the back side:

The back has this super cute all over print which I loved! It even comes with an iridescent tassle on the zipper! The second bag is more of a wash bag but again I think you could still use this as a normal bag:

This is another cute bag with Angelica on the front saying Sorry not sorry! The edging is an iridescent band, which I love and the back:

Another super cute all over print featuring Angelica! The bag breaks apart to show two compartments:

So you could use it as a washbag or a normal bag, separating out your must haves (bus pass, wallet, keys) and your makeup! These bags were bargains with the toiletry bag at £6 and the washbag at £5.

Next up, is socks! I love socks and have so many but couldn't resist a few more when I saw these:

How could you not buy these! I love the Little Mermaid and these just lept off the shelf into my basket when I saw them! Next up are these cute Bambi socks:

Not my normal colour scheme but they were too cute to not get! The last set I picked up were Beauty and the Beast:

I absolutely adored the live-action film and it reignited my love for the original so I had to buy these too! These sets were £3 each.

The last item i picked up was this cute iridescent A keyring (my name begins with an A):

I am forever rummaging around in my bag for my keys so when I spotted this I thought this might help save me time! And yes, it's iridescent so also feeds my obsession ^^

So that's everything I got! An awesome haul for the money and all available on the highstreet!
